Michael Owen states his prediction West Brom v Liverpool
The former Liverpool striker is confident that Jurgen Klopp's side will have to accept a score draw with West Brom on Sunday
Michael Owen believes Liverpool will have to settle for a score draw with West Brom at The Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds managed to gain a foothold in the top-four race last weekend after an impressive 2-1 comeback win against Stoke City.
Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino came off the bench to score second-half goals and seal three points at the Britannia Stadium.
Third-placed Liverpool are six points clear of Manchester United in fifth spot in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League competition.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were 2-1 winners against West Brom at Anfield in November thanks to goals from Sadio Mane and Coutinho.
Former England striker Owen is backing West Brom to deny Liverpool three points at The Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon.
“The Baggies have failed to score in five of their last six PL games but you have to go back to October 2011 for the last time Liverpool won at the Hawthorns and I feel the hosts’ aerial power could prove a thorn in the Reds’ side,” Owen told Bet Victor.
“Liverpool showed their class and flair at Stoke last weekend but may have to settle for a point in a game where I expect to see chances and goals at both ends.”
Liverpool are looking to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2014.
The Reds finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season following Klopp’s appointment as Brendan Rodgers’s successor.
