Manager opens up about Chelsea’s link to Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata
Harry Redknapp is not sure whether Alvaro Morata would be able to cope with the rigours of English football at Chelsea
Harry Redknapp has questioned whether Alvaro Morata would be able to adapt the the rigours of English football if he were to join Chelsea from Real Madrid this summer.
The Spanish forward has been touted as a possible transfer target for the west London side this summer as Antonio Conte begins to think about bolstering his squad ahead of next season.
Conte is likely to want to sign a number of new players this summer as he prepares his team for a return to the Champions League for next season.
Morata knows Conte well from the pair’s time together at Juventus and the striker has been linked with Chelsea in recent weeks.
However, Birmingham City manager Redknapp is not sure whether Morata would be a good fit for Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
Writing in his column for the Evening Standard, Redknapp said: “Alvaro Morata is the other striker Chelsea have been linked with and he’s a top player but his injury record would make you wonder if he can cope with the demands of English football, playing every three days.”
Chelsea are looking to win a domestic double this season and will take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley next Saturday afternoon.
