Charlie Nicholas predicts where Arsenal, Man United will finish
Charlie Nicholas says neither Arsenal nor Manchester United will finish in the top four this season
Charlie Nicholas believes that neither Arsenal nor Manchester United will finish in the top four this season.
The Gunners suffered another damaging blow to their Champions League qualification hopes on Sunday when they were beaten 2-0 by local rivals Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
Manchester United, meanwhile, also lost ground in the race for a top-four finish when they were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Swansea City at Old Trafford at the weekend.
Arsenal are currently sixth in the table and behind Manchester United in fifth as the race for Champions League qualification reaches its conclusion.
However, former Gunners star Nicholas believes that neither team will finish in the Premier League’s top four this season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Nicholas said: “I can’t see either Arsenal or Manchester United challenging anymore.
“Arsenal just are not good enough. There’s still a couple of tricky games, including Arsene Wenger having to actually beat Jose Mourinho, then Southampton and Everton. They’re a better side when the pressure is off but this team just isn’t good enough to do it.
“United have got Arsenal and Spurs away and the whole issue with the Europa makes it so difficult. Their players look tired and frustrated and I can’t see them winning many of their remaining league games.”
Arsenal will do battle with Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon when they host the Red Devils at The Emirates looking to keep their fading top-four hopes alive.
