Arsenal striker sends message to Liverpool fans
Olivier Giroud says he will be fully supporting West Ham United against Liverpool on Sunday
Olivier Giroud has told Liverpool fans that he will be cheering on West Ham United when the Reds travel to the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Giroud scored twice as he helped Arsenal keep their top-four hopes alive with a 4-1 win over Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez also found the net to keep Arsenal’s faint Champions League qualification hopes alive.
That win lifted Arsenal to within just a point of Liverpool and level on goal difference ahead of the Reds’ showdown with the Hammers in east London.
Liverpool are aiming to return to winning ways in the top flight after the disappointment of their goalless draw with Southampton last time out.
And Arsenal striker Giroud honestly admitted that he will be wearing his West Ham scarf on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Giroud said: “We have to do the job and focus on our games.
“To be honest with you, I will be a big fan of West Ham tomorrow… they have all my support!
“We have to do the job first and then see the other results. We’re going to keep the faith until the end.”
Arsenal take on Sunderland in their penultimate Premier League game on Tuesday night.
