Arsenal told to make these signings in the summer
Dietmar Hamann says Arsenal are in need of significant reinforcements in the summer transfer window
Dietmar Hamann has told Arsene Wenger that he needs to sign players in every position in the summer transfer window to bolster his Arsenal squad.
Arsenal have been in stuttering form in recent weeks and their hopes of finishing in the top four are now hanging by a thread.
The Gunners were beaten 2-0 by bitter local rivals Tottenham Hotspur last weekend to leave them with only a faint chance of Champions League qualification.
The north London club have been in dreadful form since the turn of the year but could still end the season with a trophy when they take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final later this month.
However, former Manchester City midfielder Hamann has warned that the Gunners are in need of significant reinforcements in the summer if they want to have any hope of challenging for the title next season.
Hamann wrote in his Paddy Power blog: “Arsenal really need to look at every single position this summer to change their fortunes. There’s not one particular area they need to fix, they have to strengthen everywhere!
“The goalkeeper and defence need help, the jury is still out on Granit Xhaka in midfield, and then you need to ask if they’ve got enough firepower going forward.
“Who have they got beside Alexis Sanchez to score goals? Every department at the club needs an overhaul, especially their scouting because it hasn’t been the same since Liam Brady left the club three years ago.
“No stone should be left unturned in terms of player recruitment. The whole system needs a review, starting with the manager Arsene Wenger and working its way down.”
Arsenal are currently preparing to host Manchester United at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
