Ian Wright is backing Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez to finish as the Premier League’s golden boot winner, although the legend expects the Chile star to leave in the summer.

The South American has been Arsenal’s best player in an otherwise disappointing campaign for the north London side in the Champions League and the Premier League in the 2016-17 season.

Sanchez scored his 23rd goal of the campaign in a 2-0 win against Sunderland at The Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night to help keep their slim hopes of finishing in the top four alive.

The Gunners could be facing a battle to keep Sanchez this summer with little over 12 months remaining on his contract, while Chelsea are thought to be interested in signing the forward.

Sanchez will come head-to-head with the Premier League’s leading goal-scorer Romelu Lukaku on Sunday afternoon – the Belgium international has netted 24 times in 36 appearances.

Speaking to the Sun Goals podcast about who will finish with the Premier League’s golden boot on Sunday afternoon, former Arsenal striker Wright said:

“You’d have to fancy Sanchez [to win golden boot].

“That would be the dagger in the heart. Sanchez wins the golden boot and proves he is the main player at the club before sneaking off somewhere.”
