Michael Owen states his prediction for Arsenal v Everton
The former Manchester United striker is backing Arsenal to beat Everton in their final Premier League game of the season
Michael Owen is backing Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku to get on the score sheet when Arsenal host Everton on Sunday.
The Chile international scored his 23rd goal of the 2016-17 Premier League season on Wednesday night in Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Sunderland.
Sanchez is still one goal behind Lukaku after the Belgium international’s impressive return of 24 goals in 36 games in the English top flight.
Harry Kane surpassed Lukaku as the Premier League’s leading goal-scorer on Thursday night after the England striker’s four goals at Leicester took his tally to 26.
Arsenal need to win against Everton and hope that Liverpool fail to beat relegated side Middlesbrough at Anfield in the final Premier League game of the season.
Writing in his Bet Victor column about Arsenal’s home clash against Everton, Owen backed the Gunners to ease to a comfortable win in their final top-flight fixture.
“Everton have not won at Arsenal (Highbury) since 1996 and I don’t expect them to buck that trend with the Gunners finishing the season in very good form,” Owen said.
“The battle for the Premier League Golden Boot may have been decided at the King Power Stadium on Thursday night but Alexis Sanchez currently trails Romelu Lukaku by one (24-23) and their mini-battle is a fascinating sub-plot to the game.
“I expect to see goals at the Emirates with the hosts getting the lion’s share.”
Arsenal will take on Premier League champions Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday.
