Petr Cech states his prediction for Arsenal v Man United
Petr Cech insists Arsenal are confident of beating Manchester United on Sunday afternoon
Petr Cech has insisted that Arsenal are confident of beating Manchester United on Sunday to keep their top-four hopes alive.
The north London side head into the game looking to get back to winning ways after the bitter disappointment of their 2-0 loss to Tottenham at White Hart Lane last weekend.
That result left Arsenal’s hopes of finishing in the top four this season hanging by a thread.
The Gunners are currently five points behind Manchester United but have played a game less than Jose Mourinho’s men.
Arsenal have struggled to find consistent form in all competitions in recent weeks but Cech is confident that the north London side have what it takes to beat Manchester United, dismissing suggestions that the Red Devils could field a weakened team at The Emirates.
Cech said on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday: “I don’t know what it means, Man United with a weakened side? They have a big squad, OK they have some injuries, but that’s why they have a big squad.
“This is a game everybody will want to win, so I know he will put out a team that he will be 100 per cent sure can win, otherwise he wouldn’t put the team in.
“Now we are in the situation where we probably need to win all of the remaining games, and hope that the teams ahead of us slip. This is the situation we are in, and this was not the target for the season. This is the biggest disappointment.
“We are in the situation now where it is not about how well you play, but about how many points you get. Starting with United, a game we need to win on Sunday.”
Arsenal finished second and without a trophy last season but won the FA Cup in both 2014 and 2015.
