Axel Tuanzebe has admitted his delight at making his Premier League debut for Manchester United in Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Arsenal at The Emirates.

The teenager started at right-back for Jose Mourinho’s side and was tasked with keeping Alexis Sanchez quiet for the Gunners.

The defender impressed as he produced a performance beyond his years and earned praise from the likes of Red Devils legend Gary Neville.

And Tuanzebe has admitted how thrilled he was to be given his chance to impress as he enjoyed a strong performance on his Premier League debut.

Tuanzebe told Manchester United’s website: “It’s all thanks to the manager because he gave me the opportunity. We didn’t get the win, which is a disappointment, but I’m chuffed personally.

“At first, you see all the fans and you think ‘flipping heck’ but when the game starts, you lose yourself in it and concentrate on doing your job.

“The manager gave me one task: to stay with him [Alexis], and I seemed to do that quite well but again, we didn’t win so it doesn’t count as much.

“But it’s good to have the opportunity to play – the manager gives you a job and you have to show he can trust you for future games.”

Manchester United, who are fifth in the Premier League table, now turn their focus back to Europa League affairs and their crunch clash against Celta Vigo in the return leg of their semi-final clash on Thursday night at Old Trafford.
