Gary Neville has told Manchester United fans that Axel Tuanzebe’s performance was one big positive for them to take from their 2-0 loss to Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday.

The 19-year-old made his Premier League debut at The Emirates but put in a strong display at right-back to help keep Alexis Sanchez quiet in north London.

Tuanzebe did not look out of place in the Manchester United side but it ended up being a disappointing top-flight debut for the teenager, as goals from Granit Xhaka and Danny Welbeck handed Arsenal the three points and kept alive their faint hopes of finishing in the top four.

And former Manchester United defender Neville was incredibly impressed by what he saw from Tuanzebe in the right side of the Red Devils’ defence.

Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Neville said: “I think he did really well at full-back, against a fantastic player in Alexis Sanchez.

“He stuck to his task really well. I’m sure if you spoke to Sanchez after the game he’d say he’s had a tough game. He wasn’t able to get the better of the youngster.”
