Alan Pardew sends warning to Man United ahead of Celta Vigo trip
Alan Pardew says Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be a huge miss for Manchester United against Celta Vigo
Alan Pardew has warned Manchester United that the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a “massive problem” heading into their Europa League clash with Celta Vigo.
The 35-year-old forward has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury last month and undergoing surgery to correct the problem.
Ibrahimovic has been Manchester United’s star performer this season and is the club’s top scorer in all competitions.
The Red Devils head into Thursday night’s semi-final first leg in Spain with their top-four hopes in doubt and knowing that winning the Europa League this season could represent their best chance of Champions League qualification.
And Pardew feels that the absence of Ibrahimovic is a huge blow for Jose Mourinho’s men.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Pardew said: “Mourinho has lost Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which I think is a massive problem coming into the Europa League semi-final.”
Manchester United head into the game on the back of their disappointing 1-1 draw with Swansea City in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday.
