Gary Neville sums up Cesc Fabregas’ display for Chelsea v Middlesbrough
Gary Neville singles out Cesc Fabregas for special praise after Chelsea's 3-0 win over Middlesbrough
Gary Neville credited Cesc Fabregas with “running” the game as his brilliant performance helped Chelsea take a big step towards winning the title with a 3-0 win over Middlesbrough.
The midfielder, who turned 30 last week, was in sublime form as he set up two of Chelsea’s three goals at Stamford Bridge.
Diego Costa gave the Blues the lead in the 23rd minute when he latched on to Fabregas’ pass, before Marcos Alonso made it 2-0 in the 34th minute.
Nemanja Matic then added a third in the second half to score his first goal at Stamford Bridge and leave Chelsea within a win of lifting the Premier League trophy.
Fabregas was in fine form all night and former Manchester United defender Neville was extremely impressed by what he saw from the Spaniard at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Neville said: “Fabregas ran the game. He got the most passes by a country mile.”
Needless to say, Fabregas was named as the man of the match after his brilliant performance.
Chelsea will win the Premier League trophy if they beat West Brom at The Hawthorns on Friday night.
