Chelsea star: This is why Antonio Conte is better than Jose Mourinho
Cesc Fabregas explains the main difference between Antonio Conte and former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho
Cesc Fabregas has claimed that Antonio Conte is more thorough in training than his Chelsea predecessor Jose Mourinho.
Conte has earned plenty of praise this season for the remarkable impact he has had at Stamford Bridge since being appointed as the club’s new manager last summer.
The Blues slumped to a 10th-placed finish last season in the wake of Mourinho’s sacking before Conte was brought in last summer.
The Italian manager has had an instant impact at Stamford Bridge and has restored Chelsea to the top of English football by guiding them to the title this term.
The west London side are also chasing a domestic double this season and will take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley at the end of the month.
And Fabregas – who has worked under both Mourinho and Pep Guardiola – has lifted the lid on the difference in Conte’s approach.
Speaking to Cadena Ser, Fabregas said: “Conte is something else.
“We have run a lot this season, lots of gym work and sprints. We did very well, the team was phenomenal physically. There is a lot of pressure to go up and down [the pitch].
“He is the coach who worked the most tactically, more than with Mourinho and Guardiola.
“We have to take into account that this year we have not had to play in the Champions League, something that will not happen next season.
“Conte is meticulous. Until everything is done, training is not finished.”
