Chelsea warned about Liverpool threat next season
Andy Hinchcliffe warns Chelsea that they will have to step their game up to beat off competition from teams like Liverpool next season
Andy Hinchcliffe has warned Chelsea that they will have to step their game up to cope with the threat posed by the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham next season.
The Blues are on the brink of winning the Premier League title and will be crowned champions on Friday night if they beat West Brom at The Hawthorns.
Chelsea have been the Premier League’s top performing team this season since Antonio Conte’s arrival at the club and their improvement has been in stark contrast to their struggles last season.
The west London side could still seal a domestic double this term, with Chelsea set to take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley at the end of the month.
Liverpool looked like they would challenge for the title in the early stages of the season but Jurgen Klopp and his team have had to re-focus their target on Champions League qualification.
And Hinchcliffe believes that Chelsea will need to step their game up next season due to the increased competition in the Premier League.
Hinchcliffe said on Sky Sports News HQ on Wednesday morning: “If Diego Costa and Eden Hazard stay, you’re looking at that Chelsea team and they’ve got another two or three seasons of quality football in it.
“They’ve got demands of extra football. It’s going to get harder for Chelsea, with Liverpool, Manchester City and Spurs chasing them.”
