N’Golo Kante: My reaction to winning another award at Chelsea
N'Golo Kante reveals his delight at being named as the footballer of the year by the Football Writers' Association
N’Golo Kante has admitted that he was “honoured” to be named the footballer of the year by the Football Writers’ Association.
The Chelsea midfielder has been in sublime form for Antonio Conte’s men this season and has earned plenty of praise for his consistent displays for the west London side.
Kante, who helped Leicester to win the Premier League last season, joined Chelsea last summer and has been a key player in helping the Blues move to within just two wins of the title.
The France international was named as the PFA player of the year last month and can now add the Football Writers’ prize to his growing list of accolades.
And the 26-year-old has admitted his delight at winning his latest award.
Kante told Sky Sports: “It is a fantastic honour to win this award.
“With so many great players in this Chelsea squad and in the Premier League, for the Football Writers’ Association of this country to name me as their Footballer of the Year is a very proud moment in my career.”
Kante will be hoping to feature for Chelsea when the Blues take on Middlesbrough in their next Premier League game at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
