Ray Wilkins sends message to Chelsea fans about Cesc Fabregas
Ray Wilkins reveals to Chelsea fans how important he thinks it is for the Blues to keep Cesc Fabregas this summer
Ray Wilkins has declared that he would “break his neck” to keep Cesc Fabregas at Chelsea beyond the summer transfer window.
The midfielder has been a solid performer for Chelsea this season despite his lack of playing time under new boss Antonio Conte.
The former Arsenal captain, who turned 30 this week, has been limited to just 10 starts in the Premier League so far this season but has still earned plenty of praise for his performances for the west London side.
His lack of playing time this season is likely to see him linked with a possible transfer away from Chelsea in the summer.
However, former Chelsea coach Wilkins has stressed how important it is for the Blues to keep hold of Fabregas beyond the summer.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Thursday morning, Wilkins said: “I just love it whether he comes on or whether he starts. For me, he’s one of my favourites down there because he’s just a pure footballer.
“I’d be breaking my neck to get him to stay, to be perfectly honest.
“This guy can open up defences, not only with short passes.
“He has a fantastic range of passing all over the pitch and he’s a valuable member of the squad.”
Fabregas joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer of 2014 and won the Premier League and EFL Cup in his first season at the west London club.
