Cesc Fabregas’ Chelsea future predicted by pundit
Cesc Fabregas can play a big role in Chelsea's success next season, according to Paul Walsh
Paul Walsh believes that Cesc Fabregas will not be happy about his situation at Chelsea this season “deep down”.
The 30-year-old midfielder has been one of Chelsea’s most consistent performers when called upon by Antonio Conte this season but his playing time has been limited.
Indeed, Fabregas has made just 11 starts in the Premier League this season despite impressing whenever called upon by Conte this term.
He was named the man of the match as he helped Chelsea move to within a whisker of the title thanks to a 3-0 win over Middlesbrough on Monday night.
The former Arsenal captain’s lack of playing time this season is likely to prompt speculation that he could be set to leave the club in the summer.
However, Walsh believes that there will be a bigger role for the midfielder at Chelsea next season as they prepare for a return to the Champions League.
Walsh said on Sky Sports News HQ: “Underneath it all, he isn’t happy about his situation but he has come to accept it because he has been in a fantastic Chelsea winning team.
“Maybe the manager has sat him down and explained how he sees it playing out. He’d love him to stay and he’d love him to be part of it but he might not start every game.
“If Fabregas can accept that he has a good chance of being involved in everything.”
Chelsea will win the title if they beat West Brom on Friday night.
