Harry Kane sends warning to Chelsea about Tottenham advantage
The Tottenham Hotspur striker says Mauricio Pochettino's side are ready to cash in on their scheduling advantage
Harry Kane has warned Chelsea that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to capitalise on their fixture advantage.
Tottenham are in second place in the Premier League table and four points behind current leaders Chelsea with four games to go.
Spurs managed to cut Chelsea’s lead to four points after the Blues were 3-0 winners against Everton less than an hour before Tottenham secured a 2-0 win against Arsenal in the derby.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side return to Premier League action on Friday night when Spurs make the short trip to West Ham United at the London Stadium.
Chelsea will host Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge on Monday night as Antonio Conte side look to move to within two victories of the title.
Tottenham striker Kane warned Chelsea that Spurs understand the importance of playing first in the title race and the Lilywhites will seize their chance to put pressure on the leaders.
“It is good to go first. We have got to try to drop the gap to one point and see what happens,” Kane is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
“Chelsea will have all weekend to think about it. We knew what it was like last year with Leicester playing before us and even before Sunday’s game with Arsenal.
“It is difficult. It is good to try to play first and try to put that pressure on, so it will be good to play on Friday night. Hopefully we can get that win, put that pressure on and wait and see.”
Kane scored Tottenham’s second goal in a 2-0 win against Arsenal in the north London derby on Sunday afternoon.
