Antonio Conte reveals his summer transfer plans to Chelsea fans
Antonio Conte confirms that he is already thinking about which players he wants to bring to Chelsea in the summer transfer window
Antonio Conte has admitted that Chelsea will need significant reinforcements in the summer transfer window as he prepares for his second season in charge at the club.
The Blues manager is close to guiding Chelsea to a domestic double in his first season in charge at the club following his appointment at Stamford Bridge last summer.
Chelsea are chasing a domestic double this season of Premier League and FA Cup after an impressive start to life under their new manager.
However, with a return to next season’s Champions League already secure, Conte will already be thinking about which players he wants to try and bring to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window.
The Blues lost a number of key players in January and John Terry is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
And Conte admits that he will have to significantly bolster his squad in the off-season.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference before Monday’s clash with Middlesbrough, Conte said: “This is a process and I think no one thought this season that Chelsea could fight to win the title and could fight to be in the final of the FA Cup because, for sure, at the moment we are in transition.
“We are losing a lot of top players that wrote the history of this club. Don’t forget that this season we lost Ivanovic, Mikel and Oscar and next season we will lose John – we are talking about key players.
“Now it is very difficult to paint this problem and also I don’t want to think about this problem. It is very important to be focused on the present. You must be prepared to face every situation and to find the right solution.
“My expectation this season was a great challenge in this league, against City, United, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool.
“In the next season, for us, it will be the same, but we want to work, and then we have the possibility to go in the market to choose the right players for my idea of football. For sure, we will need more players next season.”
