Chelsea warned about potential big-money transfer deal
Chelsea have been warned by Paul Walsh that replacing Diego Costa would be extremely difficult
Paul Walsh has warned Chelsea that they will have their work cut out in trying to replace Diego Costa if the striker leaves Stamford Bridge this summer.
The Spanish forward has been one of Chelsea’s top performers this season and his 20 goals in the Premier League have helped to fire Antonio Conte’s men to the brink of the title.
However, Costa’s future at Stamford Bridge has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months and he was heavily linked with a move to China in the January transfer window.
It remains to be seen whether Costa will still be a Chelsea player next season, but Walsh feels that it will be extremely difficult for the Blues to replace the forward should he leave the club.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Tuesday morning, Walsh said: “Chelsea have to find a suitable replacement [for Costa]. Who that is going to be?
“Maybe they’ll look for someone who is more mobile running into areas or someone who can do a bit of everything.
“Chelsea will be looking for the ultimate centre-forward, but there aren’t many of them in the world. It’s a massive decision because they’ll be paying a lot of money.”
Chelsea will look to win the Premier League title by beating West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Friday night.
