Harry Redknapp: I’ve been told Chelsea will sign this striker in the summer
Harry Redknapp claims Chelsea are set to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton in the summer transfer window
Harry Redknapp has claimed that he’s been told there is a “strong” chance Chelsea will re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton this summer.
The Blues have been linked with a bid to bring the Belgium star back to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window in recent weeks as Antonio Conte begins to ponder bolstering his squad ahead of next season.
Lukaku was deemed to be surplus to requirements at Chelsea by then manager Jose Mourinho and was sold to Everton back in the summer of 2014.
The forward has since earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top forwards at Goodison Park and Chelsea are said to be interested in bringing him back to Stamford Bridge.
And former QPR manager Redknapp has revealed that a source has told him that Chelsea could be set to swoop for the forward this summer.
Redknapp wrote in his column for the Evening Standard: “I’m told there’s a strong chance Lukaku will go back to Chelsea.
“The transfer fee will be huge and you might look at it and think he isn’t worth it but Paul Pogba’s £89m move to Manchester United from Juventus last summer changed the market completely.
“Now clubs think they can charge even more for promising players. Lukaku’s goal return has been good but he blows hot and cold.
“On a good day, he is very difficult to play against but he has too many quiet performances for me to put him up there with the best centre-forwards in the world.”
Champions Chelsea are currently preparing to host Sunderland in their final Premier League game of the season on Sunday.
