Pundit asks question about Nathan Ake ahead of Chelsea v Arsenal
Pat Nevin questions whether Antonio Conte will want to start Nathan Ake for Chelsea against Arsenal
Pat Nevin has questioned whether Antonio Conte will want to start Nathan Ake in Chelsea’s crunch FA Cup final clash against Arsenal at the end of the month.
The young defender has recently made a handful of appearances for the Blues and has earned praise for his displays since returning to Stamford Bridge early from his loan spell at Bournemouth.
The 22-year-old has made one assist in two Premier League appearances for Chelsea so far this season and will be hoping to be involved when the Blues host Sunderland in their final home game of the campaign this weekend.
Ake will then be hoping to prove himself as worthy of a place in the starting line-up for Chelsea’s crunch FA Cup final clash against Arsenal at Wembley at the end of the month.
And Nevin admits that he is not sure whether the 22-year-old will feature for the Blues at Wembley.
Nevin wrote in his column for Chelsea’s website: “Arsenal are secondary in my thoughts, the real question is which team will Antonio pick?
“The bench will probably be harder to choose than 10 members of the first team. There is a lot of thought and consideration. JT? He did score this week after all, but what about Ake?
“It is a big disappointment not to be stripped for a final I would imagine.”
