Antonio Conte is backing Chelsea to pick up three points against Middlesbrough if his Blues squad show their fighting spirit on Monday night.

Chelsea are sitting at the top of the Premier League table and four points clear of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur having played one game less than Spurs.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men handed Chelsea the iniaitive in the title race on Friday night after a surprise 1-0 loss to West Ham United at the London Stadium.

Tottenham’s defeat means Chelsea can move seven points clear of their London rivals with three games to play should the leaders beat relegation candidates Middlesbrough.

Conte is closing in on his first Premier League title as Chelsea manager after the Italian coach took over the reins from Guus Hiddink at the end of the 2015-16 season.

Speaking at his pre-match media conference about Chelsea’s home clash against Middlesbrough on Friday, Conte said:

“My expectation for this game is we must play a great game. We have to try to take three points. This game is very important. Now with only four games to go, it’s important to win. It won’t be easy. Middlesbrough is struggling to avoid relegation. We must be ready, ready to fight, ready to find the right way to take three points.”
