Michael Owen is backing Chelsea to take another giant stride towards winning the Premier League title this season by beating Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

The Blues head into the game fresh from their impressive 3-0 win over Everton last weekend to keep their four-point gap at the top of the Premier League table.

Chelsea need to win three of their remaining four games to guarantee the title this season.

However, they could head into their clash with Middlesbrough just one point clear of Tottenham – Spurs will close the gap if they beat West Ham at the London Stadium on Friday night.

But former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen cannot see past anything but a win for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Boro haven’t scored a goal let alone pick up a point in their last six Premier League games against Champions-elect Chelsea who were outstanding at Everton last weekend.

“They are nearly there but Boro won’t go down without a fight. There is a huge gulf in class between the sides, however, and I can’t see past an emphatic Blues win.”
