Charlie Nicholas states his prediction for Chelsea v Middlesbrough
The Arsenal legend doesn't expect Chelsea to falter against Middlesbrough on Monday night
Charlie Nicholas is backing Chelsea to get the job done against Middlesbrough on Monday night.
The Premier League leaders are sitting four points clear at the top of the table thanks to a 3-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park last weekend.
Goals from Pedro Rodriguez, Gary Cahill and Willian helped to secure an emphatic victory on Merseyside and edge Antonio Conte’s side one step closer to the title.
Chelsea will face an anxious wait until their next Premier League game as Tottenham take on West Ham at London Stadium on Friday night.
However, former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas doesn’t expect Chelsea to falter against Middlesbrough even if Tottenham cut their lead to a point.
“Boro are not done yet and showed some fight against Manchester City when they were really unlucky. But they have to go after the game and Chelsea showed at Everton that they can be patient and then Pedro, Hazard or Fabregas will do something,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“There is too much there and these players know how to win. I think Spurs will squeeze it on Friday but I think Chelsea will come flying out, get the job done and ease the tension.”
Chelsea have won their last two Premier League games thanks to comfortable victories over Southampton and Everton.
The Blues are looking to win a first Premier League title under Antonio Conte following the Italian’s appointment last summer.
The west London side will take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
