Paul Merson states his prediction for Chelsea v Sunderland
The Arsenal legend is tipping Chelsea to win 4-0 against Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon
Paul Merson is tipping Chelsea to ease to a 4-0 win against Sunderland in the Premier League title celebration on Sunday night.
The west London side wrapped up their first title under Antonio Conte at West Brom last week thanks to a 1-0 win against the Baggies.
Chelsea won the Premier League trophy with two games to spare thanks to Michy Batshuayi’s winner with eight minutes remaining at The Hawthorns.
Sunderland, on the other hand, are already relegated and the Black Cats lost 2-0 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
Conte made wholesale changes for Monday night’s 4-3 win against Watford as the Chelsea second-string got a run out in front of their home supporters.
Writing in his Sky Sports column about Chelsea’s home clash against Sunderland, former Arsenal midfielder Merson tipped the champions to win in style.
“I think all the Chelsea big boys will play in this now after a lot were rested against Watford on Monday,” Merson said.
“I thought Sunderland played really well for 70 minutes against Arsenal but they are not in the same league as Chelsea.”
Merson added: “I expect Chelsea, with their players, the rested ones will play and I think they will be miles ahead of Sunderland.”
Chelsea will face bitter rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday 27 May as Conte looks to win the double in his first season.
