Jamie Carragher opens up about Eden Hazard at Chelsea
Jamie Carragher picks Eden Hazard as his player of the season ahead of Chelsea team-mate N'Golo Kante
Jamie Carragher has picked Eden Hazard as the player of the season – ahead of Chelsea team-mate N’Golo Kante.
Kante has earned plenty of praise for his performances for Chelsea this term and was voted as the PFA player of the year following his fine displays.
The midfielder has slotted seamlessly into Chelsea’s midfield following his arrival at Stamford Bridge from Leicester City last summer.
Hazard, meanwhile, has also been in superb form for Chelsea this season and has scored 15 goals and made five assists in 35 Premier League games for the Blues so far this season.
The Belgian playmaker has rekindled some of his best form after struggling like most of his team-mates last season.
And Liverpool legend Carragher believes that Hazard tops Kante in terms of his contribution to Chelsea’s title winning team this season.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Carragher said: “Hazard, I think he’s the best player in the league.
“It’s difficult to argue because Kante’s been outstanding, but I just think Kante is more of a destroyer.
“A bit harsh, maybe with his quality on the ball. You think the goal he created for Hazard at Bournemouth.
“But I just think that player gets you off your seat, so I just go for Hazard.”
Chelsea are aiming to win a domestic double this season and will take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at the end of the month.
