Guillem Balague pours cold water on suggestions that Arsenal could try and sign James Rodriguez this summer
Guillem Balague has poured cold water on suggestions that Arsenal could make a transfer move to try and sign James Rodriguez from Real Madrid this summer.
The north London side are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as the transfer window draws ever nearer.
There is a significant air of uncertainty around Arsenal at the moment, with it remaining unclear whether Arsene Wenger will still be in charge at The Emirates next season.
Regardless of whether Wenger is still at the helm in August, Arsenal are likely to want to significantly bolster their squad in the summer transfer window.
However, Spanish football expert Balague does not believe that Rodriguez will be a transfer target for the Gunners this summer.
Asked if he could envisage Rodriguez moving to Arsenal, Balague told Sky Sports: “I don’t believe it.
“We are talking about 60m euros, which is not the kind of money Arsene Wenger will want to spend if he renews his contract for two more years as people in the club are saying.”
Arsenal take on Southampton in the Premier League on Wednesday night as they look to try and keep alive their faint hopes of finishing in the top four this season.
