Jamie Carragher reacts to Emre Can’s wonder goal in Liverpool’s 1-0 win at Watford
The Liverpool legend hails Emre Can's moment of magic at Watford
Jamie Carragher hailed Emre Can’s moment of magic in Liverpool’s win against Watford in the Premier League on Monday night.
Liverpool were looking to capitalise on a tough weekend for their top-four rivals after Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United dropped points.
The Reds hit the woodwork in the first half when substitute Adam Lallana rifled an instinctive volley past Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes but was denied by the woodwork.
Liverpool did make the breakthrough in the second minute of added time at the end of the first half when Can netted an incredible overhead kick after Lucas Leiva spotted the German’s run.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the Germany international’s stunning scissor kick, former Liverpool defender Carragher was full of praise for the versatile midfielder.
“It is not really his game but you see Emre Can making that run. He has to do it as a midfield player,” Carragher said.
“We have to just admire his finish. It’s an overhead kick.”
Carragher added: “Liverpool needed a moment of magic. You’ve just seen it.”
Can has only scored six times in 86 appearances in the Premier League since his move to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014.
Liverpool are in third place in the Premier League table.
