Thibaout Courtois and Diego Costa were some of the big names rested after Chelsea were 1-0 winners against West Bromwich Albion to win their second title in three seasons.
Terry started alongside Nathan Ake and Kurt Zouma in the Chelsea defence and the Blues skipper made the breakthrough in the first half with a close-range finish from a set-piece.
In what was a thrilling London derby at Stamford Bridge, Cesar Azpilicueta and Michy Batshuayi got on the score sheet but Watford cancelled out the Premier League champions’ lead three times.
Speaking to Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football about Terry’s goal, Carragher said:
“It was was written in the stars. He is the top scorer in Premier League for defender. It’s typical John Terry. He gets a little bit of luck. It’s a great finish.”
