Jurgen Klopp has warned Liverpool that there is still work to do in the top-four race.

The Merseyside out took a step closer to a Champions League spot on Monday night thanks to Emre Can’s overhead kick at Vicarage Road.

Liverpool moved four points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United in the race to secure a return to Europe’s premier club competition next term.

The Reds will take on Southampton, West Ham United and Middlesbrough in their final three Premier League games with their top-four fate in their own hands.

Klopp led Liverpool to an eighth-place finish in his first season in charge after he took over the reins from Brendan Rodgers back in October 2015.

Speaking to Sky Sports about the possibility of Liverpool allowing a top-four finish to slip through their fingers, Klopp said:

“We should really feel the three points in this moment, like we felt the defeat last weekend.

“We have five or six days to prepare for Southampton. Anyone who has seen Southampton play this season knows that is a real challenge. It’s a real job to do.

“It’s not about what we can lose. It’s about what we can get. We will try everything to get as much as we can.”

Liverpool signed seven players in the summer transfer window last year.

The Reds haven’t beaten Southampton in three attempts in the Premier League and the EFL Cup this season.
