Dietmar Hamann: I’ve got doubts about Arsenal star, I don’t like his attitude
The former Liverpool midfielder hasn't been impressed with Alexis Sanchez's attitude at Arsenal
Dietmar Hamann has questioned Alexis Sanchez’s attitude at Arsenal in the second half of the Premier League season.
The Chile international made an impressive start to the 2016-17 season but his performances have dipped since his negotiations with Arsenal over a new contract reportedly hit a stumbling block.
Sanchez has scored 19 goals and has made nine assists in 34 appearances in the Premier League this season, which hasn’t been enough to secure the Gunners a place in the top four – so far.
The South American has been linked with a move to Premier League leaders Chelsea at the end of the season with less than 14 months remaining on his current deal.
Writing his Paddy Power column about Sanchez’s attitude at the north London club over the past few months, former Liverpool and Newcastle United midfielder Hamann raised questions about the Arsenal star.
“I have my doubts about Alexis Sanchez as well. Since his contract talks broke down a few months ago, I don’t believe he’s been the same player.
“He’s more reliable than Ozil, but I wouldn’t go as far as saying Sanchez has outshone him.
“I have questions about the Chilean’s attitude because if you look at the way The Gunners have fallen apart in games – especially against Bayern Munich – it’s a collective thing.”
Arsenal are facing the real prospect of finishing outside of the top four for the first time under Arsene Wenger.
