Alexis Sanchez breaks silence about his Arsenal future
Alexis Sanchez opens up about his future at Arsenal as the speculation about his future continues
Alexis Sanchez has finally spoken out about his future but has told Arsenal fans that he will not make a decision until the summer.
The Chile international’s situation has been a relentless source of speculation this season after both he and Mesut Ozil entered into the final 15 months of their contracts at The Emirates.
Arsene Wenger has remained typically coy whenever questioned about Sanchez’s future beyond the summer and it remains to be seen if he will stay at the club for next season.
Sanchez has been one of Arsenal’s top performing players this season, scoring 25 goals and making 12 assists in all competitions this term.
However, the 28-year-old insists that he is first focused on helping Arsenal try to qualify for the Champions League before thinking about his future at the club.
“What I want to do now is to finish the season well, try to qualify for the Champions League, win the FA Cup and then I’ll sit down with the club to decide what I’m going to do,” Sanchez said in a wide-ranging interview with Sky Sports.
“We’ve said that the two of us [Sanchez and Wenger] will sit down together to discuss the topic in terms of what will happen and what we’re going to do, what’s best for the club, what’s best for me, what’s best for him.
“We’ll speak once the season is over because if I speak now, that would take my focus away from what I want, which is qualifying for the Champions League and winning the FA Cup.”
Sanchez will be expecting to start for Arsenal when the Gunners take on Manchester United in their crunch Premier League clash at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
