Emmaneul Petit names three candidates for next Arsenal manager
The former Arsenal midfielder names three managers who could replace Arsene Wenger this summer
Emmanuel Petit has named Massimiliano Allegri, Leonardo Jardim and Diego Simeone as potential replacements for Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.
The Arsenal boss is facing an uncertain future at the north London club after the Gunners finished in fifth place in the Premier League table this season.
Wenger’s current deal is set to expire in the summer, although the Arsenal manager is thought to be ready to sign a new two-year contract extension.
The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 and Wenger has never guided the London outfit to Champions League glory despite reaching the final in 2006.
Allegri masterminded Juventus’ 4-1 win against Jardim’s impressive Monaco side in the Champions League semi-finals earlier this month.
Atletico Madrid lost 4-2 on aggregate to their bitter rivals Real Madrid as Diego Simeone’s men fell just short of successive Champions League finals.
Speaking to bwin about potential managers who could replace Wenger, former Arsenal midfielder Petit said:
“Massimo Allegri and Diego Simeone would both be good and there are also rumours in France about the Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim, who is very highly rated.
“He has done well in the Champions League and in bringing through the young talent, whilst still winning titles.
“Allegri has set records at Juventus and I am a big fan of Simeone for what he has done at Atletico over the past four years but I really like Jardim as well.
“A lot of managers will come and be able to manage Arsenal, but I really want Arsene to stay.”
Wenger is looking to win his third FA Cup crown in four seasons.
