Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out Arsenal finishing in the Premier League’s top four this season.

The Gunners welcomed Manchester United to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon as the north London side looked to bolster their top-four chances after 2-0 loss at Tottenham Hotspur last week.

Arsenal made the breakthrough in the 54th minute thanks to Granit Xhaka’s deflected strike before Danny Welbeck’s powerful header doubled the home side’s slender lead.

The Gunners moved to within two points of Manchester United thanks to their 2-0 win as Arsenal look to avoid missing out on a top-four finish for the first time under Wenger.

The north London side are back to within seven points of Liverpool, having played two games less than the Merseyside outfit.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Arsenal’s impressive performance against Manchester United, Wenger said:

“We still have a mathematical chance but we need some help.

“But the best help we can get is by winning our own games.”
