Paul Walsh is expecting to see Arsenal miss out on a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

It has been a difficult start to the year for Arsene Wenger’s men, who have been dumped out of the Champions League and are facing a serious uphill struggle to finish in the top four.

Arsenal have finished in the top four in each of Wenger’s seasons in charge at the north London club since he was appointed back in 1996.

However, the Gunners are facing the very real prospect of missing out this season after a stuttering run of form in the Premier League.

And Walsh admits that he is expecting to see Arsenal finish outside of the top four this season.

Walsh said on Sky Sports News HQ before Wednesday’s game at Southampton: “I don’t think Arsenal will get in the top four, when you take an overall view.”

On Wenger, he added: “He’s been stubborn. Arsene Wenger hasn’t let us know what he is doing. [But] he has earned the right with the time he has spent at Arsenal to make his own decision.”

Arsenal can still end the season with a trophy, however, as they take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley at the end of the month.
