Pundit: This Arsenal star was one of the best, he’s gone off the boil
Former Man City defender Danny Mills questions Hector Bellerin's current performances after Arsenal's 2-0 loss to Tottenham
Danny Mills has criticised Hector Bellerin for his disappointing performances in the Arsenal team in the 2016-17 season.
The Spain international was named in the PFA Premier League team of the year after an excellent campaign in Arsene Wenger’s starting XI.
The former Barcelona defender has scored one goal in 36 games in the Premier League in the 2015-16 season.
However, Bellerin has one features in 22 fixtures in the current campaign after struggling with injury and form in a disappointing season for Arsenal.
The 21-year-old was unable to prevent Arsenal from suffering a 2-0 loss to bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby on Sunday afternoon.
Former Manchester City defender Mills has questioned Bellerin’s alarming drop off in form in the 2016-17 campaign.
“At one point Hector Bellerin looked like the best right-back in the Premier League. He’s gone right off the boil,” Mills told BBC Sport.
Arsenal are in sixth place in the Premier League table and six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City in the race to secure a spot in the Champions League.
The Gunners will take on Premier League leaders Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.
