Ian Wright is happy to see Arsenal build some momentum with a 2-0 win against Manchester United ahead of their FA Cup final against Chelsea.

Arsene Wenger masterminded a Premier League win against Jose Mourinho for the first time thanks to goals from Granit Xhaka and Danny Welbeck.

The north London side have endured a tough second half of the season after crashing out of the Champions League at the last-16 hurdle for a seventh successive season.

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich were 10-2 winners on aggregate against Arsenal to heap pressure on Wenger following a poor run in the Premier League – too.

Indeed, Arsenal lost to Chelsea, Liverpool, Watford and West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League in February and March to leave their title bid in tatters.

Speaking to BBC Sport’s 606 podcast, former Arsenal striker Wright was pleased to see the Gunners build some confidence ahead of the FA Cup final.

“I’m relieved [with Arsenal],” Wright said. “I’m pleased to see something. We need that before facing Chelsea.”
