Arsene Wenger has insisted that he does not care whether Manchester United will field a weakened team in their clash with Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has suggested that he could be ready to field a less experienced team in Manchester United’s remaining Premier League games as he prioritises winning the Europa League ahead of finishing in the top four.

Manchester United head into this weekend’s round of fixtures in fifth place in the Premier League table and ahead of Arsenal in sixth.

Arsenal are bidding to return to winning ways in the Premier League after the disappointment of their 2-0 loss to Tottenham at White Hart Lane in last weekend’s north London derby.

And Wenger has insisted that he is only concerned about his Arsenal team bouncing back and not the type of side Mourinho is planning to field.

Wenger told a news conference at Arsenal’s training ground on Thursday morning: “We focus on our own performance and I do not know what Manchester United will do.

“We know they have a massive squad with quality players and only a top level performance will get us the win we want.

“The only advantage we can have is to focus on ourselves and not focus on the weakness of United. I want my team to turn up and play with a stronger performance than Sunday against Tottenham, they need to respond well.

“I take very competition seriously and the only thing I have done in the past is give youth a chance in the League Cup.”
