Martin Keown sends blunt message to Roy Keane about Arsenal
The Arsenal legend disagrees with Roy Keane about a weakened Manchester United side beating Arsenal
Martin Keown doesn’t believe a weakened Manchester United side will ease to a comfortable win against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners have endured a tough second half of the season in the Champions League and the Premier League to heap pressure on Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal lost to Chelsea, Liverpool, Watford and West Brom on the road in the Premier League in February and March to leave their title bid in tatters.
The north London side suffered a resounding 10-2 aggregate defeat at the hands of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League last 16.
The Gunners lost 2-0 to bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby in the Premier League last weekend.
Manchester United legend Roy Keane claimed that Jose Mourinho’s weakened side could make light work of Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium this weekend.
However, former Arsenal defender Keown believes the Gunners have already beaten some top sides in the 2016-17 season and Manchester United shouldn’t be complacent.
Asked whether Keane was right that an under-strength Manchester United could beat Arsenal, Keown told the Daily Mail:
“No. It was not that long ago that this Arsenal team beat Manchester City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. On its day, this team is capable of defeating the best teams in the Premier League.”
