Niall Quinn: This is what will happen with Arsene Wenger at Arsenal in the summer
Niall Quinn is tipping Arsene Wenger to stay at Arsenal beyond the summer
Niall Quinn believes that Arsene Wenger will stay at Arsenal for next season – as long as he steers the Gunners to a top-four finish and an FA Cup win.
Arsenal’s hopes of finishing in the top four took a blow on Sunday as Liverpool beat West Ham 4-0 to move to within one win of securing their spot.
The north London side will have to win their remaining two games and hope that Liverpool slip up against Middlesbrough at Anfield on Sunday after to finish in the top four this season.
Arsenal can still end the season with a trophy by beating Chelsea in the FA Cup final at the end of the month.
And Quinn feels that Wenger, whose contract expires at the end of the season, will definitely stay on at Arsenal if they win the FA Cup and finish in the top four.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Saturday, Quinn said: “I think he stays [after a top-four finish and a cup win].
“How he stays and how the structure would be at the club at that point is up for debate, but that represents good, solid progress for a season which was dogged by the negativity that surrounds his leadership of the club.
“He’s the most successful manager in the club’s history and even today, in this great run they are having, there’s another plane hired to fly above the ground with another banner.
“However, the doubters will have to sit up and take notice if Wenger turns this team into a Champions League team and cup winners.”
Arsenal finished second and without a trophy last season.
