Matt Le Tissier believes Arsenal will find it difficult to keep Alexis Sanchez if Arsene Wenger’s side miss out on Champions League football.

The Chile international’s future has been a source of relentless speculation throughout the 2016-17 season after failing to agree a contract extension with the north London club.

Sanchez is thought to have less than 14 months remaining on his current Arsenal deal which has prompted talk of a summer transfer.

Premier League champions Chelsea have been linked with a move to sign the South American from their bitter London rivals at the end of the 2016-17 season.

La Liga side Atletico Madrid and Serie A champions Juventus have also been touted as possible destinations for the Arsenal striker.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ about Arsenal’s chances of keeping Sanchez beyond the summer transfer window, former Southampton captain Le Tissier said: “It will be slightly easier if they do finish in the top four.

“If they don’t, it will be very difficult to keep hold of him.

“I think he might already be gone. It’s going to cost the club a lot of money to commit to Ozil and Sanchez.”
