Arsenal to battle Chelsea in race to sign 24-year-old striker this summer – report
Arsenal have joined Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to sign Alvaro Morata this summer, say reports
Arsenal have joined Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun are reporting that the Gunners are willing to pay as much as £50m to bring the Spanish forward to The Emirates this summer as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking line-up at The Emirates.
Morata’s future has been a source of constant speculation in recent weeks, with both Manchester United and Chelsea having been linked with the forward.
The same report states that Chelsea are currently leading the race to sign Morata this summer ahead of both Manchester United and Arsenal.
However, it also claims that Wenger is keen to bring Morata to Arsenal as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez, should the Chilean leave The Emirates in the summer.
The story also states that Wenger first tried to bring Morata to The Emirates back in 2014 before Sanchez joined from Barcelona.
However, Arsenal fans will not be pleased to learn that the report also states that Chelsea is Morata’s preferred destination this summer because of knowing Antonio Conte well from their time together at Juventus.
