Ian Wright’s response when asked whether Arsenal could sign Antoine Griezmann
The Arsenal legend has ruled out the possibility of Antoine Griezmann moving to the north London club in the summer transfer window
Ian Wright has questioned why Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann would consider a move to Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The France international has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months following his excellent form for los Rojiblancos.
EFL Cup winner Manchester United are thought to be leading the race to sign the 26-year-old striker in the summer transfer window.
However, Premier League leaders Chelsea have also been linked with a summer move to sign one of Europe’s most-exciting prospects.
Griezmann, though, has also emerged as a somewhat surprise target for Arsenal despite the continued uncertainty surrounding Arsene Wenger’s future.
The 67-year-old hasn’t made an announcement about his plans at the north London club despite his contract expiring at the end of the campaign.
Speaking to Premier League Tonight on BT Sport about the possibility of Arsenal signing Griezmann in the summer, Wright said:
“Why would he come to Arsenal in the current climate? Arsenal is not your first-choice destination if you’re Antoine Griezmann. That is what the problem for Arsenal is right now.”
Arsenal will host Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
