Jamie Redknapp has questioned whether Arsenal fans would want to watch Diego Simeone’s style of football.

The Atletico Madrid manager has been touted as a potential replacement for current Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The 67-year-old Frenchman’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season after a disappointing campaign.

Wenger, though, is reportedly ready to sign a two-year contract extension to extend his reign to 23 seasons.

Simeone has been regularly linked with the Arsenal job in recent seasons after Pep Guardiola took over the reins at Manchester City and Jurgen Klopp became Liverpool boss.

Speaking to Sky Sports about the possibility of Simeone taking over the reins at Arsenal, former Liverpool and Spurs captain Redknapp said:

“Would the fans want to see the style of football Diego Simeone plays? I’m not sure.

“Arsenal have always had a certain way of playing and I’m not sure he’d be the right fit.”

Simeone has won the La Liga crown, the Europa League, the Copa del Rey and finished up as a Champions League runner-up twice during his spell in charge of Atletico.

Arsenal can end the season with some silverware if the Gunners beat Premier League champions Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
