Pundit claims Arsenal could sign 23-year-old this summer
Jordan Pickford could move to Arsenal from Sunderland in the summer transfer window, says Nigel Winterburn
Jordan Pickford could move to Arsenal from Sunderland in the summer transfer window, according to Nigel Winterburn.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper has earned plenty of praise for his performances for the Black Cats this season despite David Moyes’ men being relegated from the Premier League.
His fine displays are inevitably likely to lead to transfer speculation linking Pickford with a possible transfer away from the Stadium of Light this summer.
And Arsenal legend Winterburn claims that Pickford could join the Gunners this summer, claiming that David Ospina could be on his way out of the club.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Wednesday morning, Winterburn said: “He is a terrific goalkeeper. He has been very strong this season.
“There is talk of Ospina wanting to move away from the club. Cech is in the twilight of his career. It’s just case of Cech being the number one and Pickford coming in and taking over the following season. He wants to be No1.”
Arsenal still have a faint chance of finishing in the top four this season and will take on Everton in their final game at The Emirates on Sunday, hoping that either Manchester City or Liverpool slip up.
The north London side will also take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley at the end of the month.
