Antonio Conte provides latest Chelsea injury update ahead of Boro clash
Antonio Conte gives the latest Chelsea team news ahead of Monday night's clash with Middlesbrough
David Luiz and N’Golo Kante will both undergo late fitness tests ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Middlesbrough in the Premier League on Monday night, Antonio Conte has revealed.
The west London side are preparing to take on Boro at Stamford Bridge as they look to claim victory and take a step closer towards winning the Premier League title.
Chelsea head into the game fresh from their impressive 3-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park last weekend.
Luiz limped off during the second half of that win and Kante has also been struggling with a minor muscular problem.
And Conte delivered the latest Chelsea injury update on the duo at his pre-match news conference at Cobham on Friday afternoon, as he also declared Thibaut Courtois as fit to start.
Conte said: “Thibaut, he trained today and yesterday and I don’t see any problem about him.
“In this week we are struggling with two situations about Luiz and N’Golo.
“I think there are three days before the game and I have the time to make the best decision.
“I have to check two situations and then to try to make the best decision for the Middlesbrough game and the other games.
“He [Kante] had a little muscular problem. Not a great problem. For this reason I have to consider the right way for him, if to play against Boro or not.”
Chelsea are looking for a win to take another step towards winning the title in Conte’s first season at the club.
The Blues are chasing a domestic double this season and will take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final later this month.
