Jamie Carragher insists Antonio Conte won’t take Chelsea’s position in the title race for granted.

The Blues started the Premier League weekend four points clear of their closest rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the title race.

Chelsea have bounced back from a 2-0 loss to bitter rivals Manchester United in emphatic fashion after successive Premier League victories.

Indeed, the west London side were 4-2 winners against Southampton at Stamford Bridge last month before a 3-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park.

Conte won the Serie A title three times during his spell in charge of Juventus between 2011 and 2014.

However, the retired defender has admitted that he is still haunted by the memory of missing out on the top-flight crown as a player in 1999-00.

Juventus surrendered a nine-point lead with eight games to go to miss out on the Serie A title on the final day of the season.

Speaking to Monday Night Football about the Chelsea manager’s attitude to their title run-in, Carragher said:

“Conte isn’t someone to take something for granted. He has lost the league with Juventus with two or three games to go. He knows it is a big hurdle over there.”
