Frank Lampard: This is what Antonio Conte is like at Chelsea training ground
The former Chelsea midfielder discusses Antonio Conte's training methods at Cobham
Frank Lampard has lifted the lid on Antonio Conte’s repetitive methods at the Chelsea training ground.
The Premier League leaders edged one step closer to the title on Sunday afternoon after Chelsea were 3-0 winners against Everton at Goodison Park in the day’s early kick-off.
Spain international Pedro Rodriguez broke the deadlock in the 66th minute with a long-range strike before Gary Cahill netted from close range to extend their lead.
Chelsea sealed three points thanks to Willian’s tap-in in the final minutes of the Premier League clash to temporarily move seven points clear of Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the north London derby.
The Blues have managed to steady the ship after a run of two defeats in four Premier League games which offered Spurs the incentive in the title race.
Chelsea’s record goal-scorer Lampard hailed Conte’s methods as the retired England midfielder shed light on what the training is like under the former Juventus boss.
“It seems like players love to play for him. I know he works them hard at the training ground,” Lampard told Sky Sports on Sunday.
“It’s repetitive, he works on tactics and that can sometimes be difficult for a manager to keep the players with him because it can get boring. But I think he’s found that great balance of working hard and showing that [passion].
“The players can’t help but respond when a manager acts like that.”
Chelsea are looking to win their first Premier League title under Conte.
