John Terry: The difference between Antonio Conte and the other Chelsea managers
The Chelsea captain has opened up about his honest relationship with Antonio Conte
John Terry has praised Antonio Conte’s honesty with the Chelsea captain.
The Blues skipper made a rare start in the English top flight on Monday night as Watford became the first team to take on the newly-crowned champions.
Chelsea edged to a 4-3 win against the Hornets as Terry broke the deadlock in the first half before his mistake 40 seconds later allowed the visitors to equalise.
Terry is set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season after struggling to secure a regular spot in the first-team under Conte following the Italian’s appointment.
Indeed, the 36-year-old has only made five starts in their title-winning campaign, making a further three appearances from the bench for the west London side.
However, Terry insists he doesn’t hold any grudges against the Chelsea manager, despite Conte effectively ending the centre-half’s Blues career prematurely.
“He’s been brilliant,” Terry told Sky Sports.
“Even leaving me out of the side was a tough decision, he pulled me into his office and he was very honest. I’ve never really had that with a manager before.
“The honesty and the respect. That’s all you want as a player.”
Chelsea will take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday 27 May.
The Premier League champions will return to the Champions League next season.
